My research focuses on the history of midwifery from c. 1500-1700 in France, England and Europe involves collaboration with current midwives and other practitioners and researchers to explore the constants and changes in the experiences of pregnancy, birth and infant care.
I am part of a ‘Knowledge Exchange’ network, which was founded while I held an Oxford University Mellon-TORCH Knowledge Exchange Fellowship in 2015-17. This allowed me to work with Dr Janette Allotey, Chair of the De Partu history of midwifery and childbirth research group and Carly Randall, the Archivist at the Royal College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians in London.
